Higher Ground Clearance

The benefit inherent in a portal axle setup is more ground clearance. The axle — an unbroken, horizontal shaft — is raised above the mechanism that controls each wheel, so the lowest point in the center of the vehicle is higher than normal. Increasing the G63 ground clearance approximately 17-19 inches as opposed to the current “standard” Mercedes-Benz G-Class clearance of 9.5 inches.

The portals alone will give the vehicle a “lift” of approximately 5 inches. The entire axle and steering geometry is maintained to OEM specs. This is the only way to really achieve a proper ground clearance. The additional ground clearance under the differential is due to the portals plus the use of larger wheels.

Increased torque

The portal axle setup allows for less work in the differential and axle mechanism to translate to more torque at each wheel. At the ends of the axle is a more complex system of gears that translate motion downward to the wheel hub — an added step that allows the axle shaft to be higher than the center of the wheels.

The axle half shafts can spin at a greater speed but generate less immediate torque, meaning less work at the outset and more productivity at the end of the machine. Differentials, then, can be smaller, thus further increasing ground clearance, which, coupled together, provides more overall capability off-road.

ADAPTIVE COILOVER

The adaptive coilover suspension is recognized by the on-board electronics and retains the full functionality of the adaptive damping systems three modes: “Comfort, Sport and Sport+”. This can be selected from the cockpit via Dynamic Select and gives the G63 AMG a completely different character.

The electronically regulated dampers are compatible with the onboard electronics and integrate seamlessly with the factory sensors of the Mercedes AMG G63. With the new adaptive DDC coilover suspension kit.

OPEN COUNTRY M/T OFF-ROAD MAXIMUM TRACTION TIRE

Designed to help full-sized pickups work hard on pavement, then work just as hard when roads are muddy, snowy, and rocky—or when there are no roads at all. The Open Country M/T combines solid on-road performance with extra ground clearance, higher load-carrying capacity, and greater ability to go off-road. Truck enthusiasts know it for its long wear, low noise and aggressive tread pattern.

2020 AMG G63 4x4² SQUARED CONVERSION

In visual terms the G63 4×4² CONVERSION raises no doubts as to its passion. The voluminous tires, the huge distance to the ground, the height of nearly 2.25 metres with a width of virtually 2.10 metres and the clear, straight design command respect right from the first glance. Further highlights: the trim with the integral LED light strips above the windscreen and the elaborate wheel-arch flarings – both in fine carbon fibre.

MERCEDES AMG G63 4x4² SQUARED VS HUMMER H1

The Predator Duramax Conversion has approximate 450hp and 900ft/lbs of torque which gives it a tremendous amount of power and increased drivability over the weaker and power lacking 6.5TD engine. Additionally the Allison 6 Speed Transmission and Selectable 2wd/4WD/AWD Transfercase greatly increase drivability with efficient transfer of power to the ground. Besides having well more than double the power of a stock Hummer H1
